Well, we are already half way through the term, where has all the time gone? It is has been a busy start to the term and all the children have settled in beautifully. We have had our parent/teacher meetings and are nearly at the end of our swimming lessons, it has been extremely busy but we have survived!!
What's Happening In the Classroom?
Literacy - During our Literacy block, we have been settling into our Daily 5 routine and I am impressed with how keen the children are to learn and work during this time. They are becoming great at choosing good fit books and their imagination in work on writing activities are refreshing and exciting.
Mathematics -During our maths blocks, we have been learning about place value in particular partitioning three and four digit numbers and the children have picked it up quite fast, try them out, see what they have learnt.
Religion - For the first half of the term we have been looking at our conscience, the students have learnt that God gave us a conscience to help us make the right choices and even if we do not make the right choices he forgives us if we are truly sorry. For the second half of the term we are beginning an exciting time, which is the Lenton period. To take a look at one of our religion activites go onto the school website, click on the year four link, here you will be able to see your child performing their God is Good songs.
Society and Environment - During S&E we have been looking at the world, in particular the seven continents. The students have started looking at various countries, cities or towns all around the world and discovering which continent they are in.
Last but not least the students have completed their first writing piece, their auto-biography projects, there are half a dozen displayed in the front office and the rest are hanging in our classroom windows. Take the time to have a look, they did a great job and you might be surprised to know where they think they will be in ten years time.
Now for a what is on in the next few weeks. Firstly this Friday, 2/3/12, we are particpating in Clean Up Australia Day. We will be looking after our little corner of the world and cleaning up the school grounds. Secondly next Friday, 9/3/12 is our famous St Josephs Primary School Swimming Carnival. It will be held at the Recreation Centre and more details will be posted in the school newsletter.
That is it for the time being. If there are any issues or questions do not hesitate to contact me via email or your childs diary is also a good way to communicate with me as I personally check them everyday.
Keep checking here for any news regarding the class and what is happening around the school.
Yours faithfully,
Mrs L :)
