Term 2

Welcome to a new term, I am back from a fantastic Thailand trip and can not wait to get back into it.  Last term was a busy one and this term looks as busy! I am hoping to get all the students showing off their great work this term through the blog. Very excited as we have purchased more iPads so accessibility to the blog will be easier for every child, so watch this space! This term the children are celebrating their first Holy Communion, this is always a special time for the whole class and one that I look forward to. Not only do we have a special sacrament but we have reports coming out and cross country carnival. I am exhausted thinking about, looking forward to another great term. All dates of up and comin g special events will be sent out via the school newsletter or visit our school website at http://www.stjoespinjarra.wa.edu.au/
Hope to see you all soon, remember you are always welcome in Year Four.

Welcome to a new year. I am very excited to welcome a new class of Year Fours. It is going to be another fabulous year, with lots of laughter, love and learning. Our school theme for the year is "Celeberate", and that is exactly what we are going to do in Year Four. We will celebrate our differences, triumphs, challenges and most of all God's love.
This term is already turning into a busy one, on the agenda is parent information meetings, swimming lessons, class prayer service, class assembly and not forgetting a very special time, we are also preparing for Lent.
It is a busy, busy term so remember to make someones day with a smile, pray daily and always see the good in everyone and everything. Here is a little bit of inspirition to keep us going through the term.

Week 6

Today we did Smartie fractions we all  got to have some Smarties we all did a work sheet we had to write what the colour of the smarties were and how many there were. Then we wrote the fractions of the the smarties. We all did three pages of smartie fractions the activity was really fun of course because we  all got to eat the smarties at the end.

We have beeen working hard on our factions. We learnt that some fractions can be reduced by other  type of fractions like 1 half  is the same as 2/4s . We had a game to play and it involved chocolate ( yum)

Last week it was book week and the whole school could dress up as a character from a book on Thursday. I went as Han Solo from Star Wars and there was a lot of other fantastic book characters like Little Red Riding Hood and Mad Hater.
From Joshua.

A great week.

We have been very busy this week, firstly our mix up animal descriptions are nearly complete. Soon the children will swap with a partner and using their fantastic descriptive writing, their partner will be able to draw the mixed up animal exactly the same as the original drawing.
Also we are becoming more confident with our fractions and with the help of Mars Bars and Smarties the children are getting even better at understanding that a fraction is an object, collection or quantity divided into equal parts.
Not forgetting that our assembly is this week, we have been tirelessly practicing and the children have come up with some great ideas, the excitement is growing the closer we get, actually excitement being an understatement, we are pumped!
Lastly every Friday the Year Fours sit in assembly crossing their fingers and praying for the good manners award. Great news, last Friday we got it! Well done Year Fours you make me very proud and it is a pleasure being your teacher!Mrs L
Almost forgot, our RSPCA cupcake day is this Friday, don't forget your cupcakes and your money!

RSPCA cupcake day!

As part of our All Creatures Great and Small theme this term, Year Fours are holding a cupcake day on Friday, 31st of August. We will be selling cupcakes for RSPCA, we are fighting cruelty to animals with cupcakes, our aim is to raise $150. For more information about this great cause check out the official website at RSPCA Cupcake Day
We will be holding our cupcake sales in the Year Four wet area next to the canteen during recess. Bring your loose change, buy a cupcake and make a difference in an animals life. If you can not make it on the day and would still like to donate to our cause go to our blog http://www.fundraise.rspcacupcakeday.com.au/natasha_lee and follow the prompts.

Thank you in advance for all your support.

Our Classroom Cares

As part of our reading program I set a task for the Year Fours. The task being to participate in Scholastic book clubs Classroom Cares 2012 challenge. The challenge went out to classrooms around Australia to read 100 books. For every class that reads 100 books Scholastic will donate 100 books to children in need. In Year Four we love to read and it did not take us long to complete our first 100 books. Well done Year Fours you really do care!!! For more information on the challenge visit Scholastic at scholastic challenge
